What is a Soakaway?
”Soakaways are the primary method of surface water disposal under the Building Regulations”A surface water soakaway is a simple and environmentally friendly drainage system designed to manage rainwater runoff from roofs, driveways, patios, or other hard surfaces by allowing the water to soak (infiltrate) into the ground rather than flow into public drains or watercourses. This often causes surface water flooding.
Typical Soakaway Installation
1. Rainwater Pipes from Building
2. Catchpit/Inspection Chamber
3. Below Ground Drainage Pipe
4. Geo-Cellular Soakaway Crates
5. Non-Woven Geotextile Membrane
6. Drainage Aggregate Surround

“It is essential your soakaway is designed correctly to prevent flooding and withstand the effects of climate change.”
